The Flesh Eaters at the Crocodile

The Flesh Eaters is a band made up of of LA-scene veterans that orignally formed in 1977. It's not a band I knew much about but its members are pretty famous: John Doe and DJ Bonebreak of X, Dave Alvin and Bill Bateman of The Blasters, Steve Berlin of Los Lobos and the poet/frontman Chris D. They haven't actually been a band for a long time but they've all been doing music ever since, so it's not like a bunch of has-beens got up from the sofa and picked up their instruments. They were good — or they were after a few songs had warmed them up — and they were obviously having a great time playing together. At one point when Dave Alvin was riding a sweet solo, their stage manager and Christy McWilson were peeking out from the curtains behind him smiling. Here's an album of better pictures than mine: http://peterdervin.com/20180126_flesh_eaters.html.

Before they went on we caught the tail end of an all-female Ramones tribute band called The Dee Dees.
